Indonesia update
On July 8 we were scheduled to fly to Indonesia to visit our daughter and her family. They have been there for a year and a half, just moved into there new place where they will be ministering from in their ministry as Guest-home Managers. We have been planning this trip for a few months. Our main purpose was to be the ones to take their supplies for school to them. It was cheaper to bring them personally rather than ship material like that because of the expense getting them through customs.
On July 8, about an hour before we were to leave for our Covid tests and then fly out, we received a call that our flight was canceled. Reason? Because we were to fly through Japan but with the spike of Covid there not to mention the Olympics happening there, they canceled our flight.
Devastated? Yes we were.
After much prayer and discussion with Preston and Stephanie and their field leadership, we rebooked for the 13th. This time our flight was routed a different way and everything went on without any problem.
Presently we are in a hotel room in Jakarta waiting out our 8 day quarantine and two negative Covid PCR tests. When the results of our second test are back, we will then fly to the island of Kalimantan where Steph, Preston and the kids will meet us and take us to their place.
While in quarantine we are reading, pacing back and forth, Dave is finding exercise videos to do and we are watching the news. Presently Indonesia is the epicenter in Southeast Asia for a spike in Covid and Covid related deaths. 800 per day! Oxygen is becoming less available as well as staff for the hospitals. We are hoping nothing extreme happens like stopping domestic flights or something like that.
Our prayer is that while we are here, we can be an encouragement to our kids and grandkids but also others who are here serving the Lord in various capacities.
We also ask that we are kept from any contact with the virus.
Thanks for joining us in this effort through prayer.
